From Cancer Recovery to 6AM Workouts: Dóri’s Journey to Strength and Joy
When Dóri first walked into CrossFit Glasshouse, she wasn’t sure what to expect. A mom of two teenagers, a cancer survivor, and a business owner, she already had a full plate. Fitness? That felt like something to squeeze in—if there was time.
Nearly two years later, Dóri isn’t just fitting it in—she’s thriving.
What started as a cautious plan to attend two classes a week has grown into a steady 4-day-a-week routine at 6AM.
“Now it’s never a question of whether I go or not—it’s just part of life,” she says.
Fitness After Cancer: Starting from Scratch
After her cancer treatment, Dóri knew she needed to rebuild her strength, but she didn’t expect to find so much joy along the way.
“I wasn’t prepared for such a good community and so much fun,” she shares.
“If I had known that working out could feel this good, I would’ve started earlier.”
Like many people returning to exercise after illness or injury, she worried about limitations—especially her shoulder. But at Glasshouse, every movement has a smart alternative.
“Even with my injury, I can do every class,” she explains.
“There’s always a safe option that still gives me a great workout.”
Community Is Everything
For Dóri, what really made the difference was the atmosphere.
Walking into a gym—especially when you’re not feeling your strongest—can be intimidating. But at CrossFit Glasshouse, she found something different.
“The community has supported me in so many ways. It’s easy, relaxed, welcoming. You just show up and you’re in good hands.”
Whether it’s a high-five after a tough workout or just knowing familiar faces will be there in the morning, the social glue of the Glasshouse community made consistency feel natural.
Why 6AM Became Her Power Hour
Dóri’s secret to fitting fitness into a busy life? Start before the world wakes up.
“Being a steady member of the 6AM class is definitely a thing,” she laughs.
Early mornings might sound brutal to some, but for many professionals, parents, and business owners, it’s the only protected time in the day. And once the habit sticks, it becomes something to look forward to—not dread.
Her Message to Others: Stop Overthinking
When asked what she’d say to someone hesitant to start?
“Don’t think about it—just do it. If you start overthinking, you’ll find hundreds of excuses not to work out.”
And she’s right. The first step is often the hardest. But as Dóri’s story shows, that one step can lead to something far more powerful—strength, confidence, and a whole new community of support.
